The It Takes Two Experience

Can gaming be a tool for struggling couples to reconnect?

Social / Experiment / Content

Maybe not all games, but It Takes Two is a co-op game where two players work together to achieve a common goal rather than compete against each other.

It Takes Two has been awarded multiple times for its unique gameplay and genre-busting storytelling about two parents who decide to divorce, but find their way back to each other through collaboration and team play.

For the launch of It Takes Two on Nintendo Switch we set out to prove that gaming can actually work as an all-new and close at hand kind of couples’ therapy.

We invited two struggling couples to an emotional journey. Ellie Gibson, Pete Hobden, Rianna Linton and Paige Meade were tasked to play It Takes Two while staying locked in their homes. The purpose of the It Takes Two Experience was to see if co-op gaming could be used to save their relationships simply by communicating and working together.

Since the campaign was launched, another 3 million copies of It Takes Two has been sold. But most importantly, the two couples who embarked on this crazy adventure chose to stay together.
